Welcome to our Blog! The majority of the Christian world except the Orthodoxy believes that Jesus The Son of Mary was born on the 25th of December but they have no evidence from the texts whatsoever. In this blog, We will show you from the texts that the evidence proves otherwise :
1) Gospel of Luke chapter 2:7-8 (NRSV-CI) :
“And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in bands of cloth, and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. In that region there were shepherds living in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night.”
• The month of December is a season of Ice and Rains and heavy winter in Nazareth, it’s unlikely for the shepherds to be with their flocks in the field at night unless the flock dies from chill and mist.
2) Gospel of Luke chapter 2:1 (NRSV-CI)-
“In those days a decree went out from Emperor Augustus that all the world should be registered.”
• It is mentioned that when Our Master Jesus was born it was a period of consensus and tax collection by the Roman Empire, The Romans would take consensus in Spring when the temperature is nice and warm and not when it’s cold and people are suffering due to the intensity of winter.

3) This collaborates with the Quranic narration that :
وَهُزِّىٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ٱلنَّخْلَةِ تُسَٰقِطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَبًا جَنِيًّا
(It was said to Maryam ع) Shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
~Surah Maryam 19:25
Dates do not grow during winter time as they can not withstand cold and frost, refer :

4) The Catholic Encyclopedia mentions :
“Christmas was not among the earliest festival of the church.….The first evidence of the feast is from Egypt. Clement of Alexandria says that certain Egyptian theologians “over curiously” assign, not the year alone, but the day of Christ’s birth, placing it on 25 Pachon (20 May) in the twenty-eighth year of Augustus.
They did this believing that the ninth month, in which Christ was born, was the ninth of their own calendar. Others reached the date of 24 or 25 Pharmuthi (19 or 20 April)
~The Catholic Encyclopedia vol 3:724, Published – Robert Appleton Company, 1907.

5) The Sixth Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq , The successor to the Prophet’s knowledge also rejected the claim that the Messiah was born in December as Allamah Ibn Shubah al-Harrani wrote :
وقيل له: إن النصارى يقولون: إن ليلة الميلاد في أربعة وعشرين من كانون فقال عليه السلام: كذبوا، بل في النصف من حزيران
And it was said to Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq that the Christian says that Christmas Eve is on the twenty-fourth of December. Imam Ja’far replied ‘They have lied rather He was born in the midst of June.’

Thank you for reading! May Allah cause us to be with The Messiah when He returns.
