Hadhrat al-Khidr is alive.

Welcome to our blog!

Part One : From The Prophet ﷺ and The Imams of guidance

Part Two : From the companions and the Aslaf

Part Three : From the Sunni scholarly opinion

The Nisf of Shaban marks the birth anniversary of the Imam of this time, the Qa’im of aal’ Muhammad ﷺ but the Nawasib make fun of us as it fascinates them that a man can be alive for 1200 years while in their own books it is mentioned that al-Khidr ع is still alive and he was physically present since the time of Sayyidna Idris ع, Nuh ع or at least the Prophet Musa ع

Part One : From The Prophet ﷺ and The Imams of Guidance

1) Abu Issa Muhammad Ibn Issa at-Tirmidhi narrated :

Abu Ubaidah Ibn al-Jarrah said : ‘I heard Rasulullah ﷺ say…. Perhaps some of you who heard me will meet Dajjal.’

~Jami’ al-Tirmidhi 2234

https://sunnah.com/tirmidhi:2234

• Abd al-Razzaq al-Sinani mentioned that Ma’mar ibn Rushd (D.153 H) said :

وبلغني أنه الخضر الذي يقتله الدجال ثم يحييه

“It has reached to me that the person Dajjal kills would be al-Khidr.

~Musannaf Abd al-Razzaq vol 10:406

• Abu Ishaq Ibrahim ibn Sufyan said :

إِنَّ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ هُوَ الْخَضِرُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ

“The man to be martyred in front of Dajjal would be al-Khidr.”

~Sahih Muslim 2938 (a)

• If al-Khidr met Rasul-Allah ﷺ and he lives until the time of Dajjal, the hadith of at-Tirmidhi comes true on him.

• Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned al-Khidr as a companion of Rasul-Allah ﷺ in his book al-Isabah fee Tameez al-Sahabah, which is based upon the biography of the companions.

2) Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned :

ﻫﺬا اﻟﺨﻀﺮ ع

Ibn Abi Umar said that Muhammad Ibn Ja’far mentioned to him from his father Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq on the authority of his father Imam Muhammad al-Baqir from his grandfather Imam Zayn al-Abideen that Imam Ali said :

“When Rasul-Allah ﷺ passed away and the consolation came, they came to hear a person, and he said: ‘Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullah, In Allah is the consolation of every calamity’…. Imam Ali said ‘Do you know who this person was, This was al-Khidr ع‘”

~al-Matalib al-Aaliyah bi-Zawaid al-Masaneed al-Thamaniyyah vol 17:235

• Sanad : All of its narrators are Thiqah and from the Ahlul Bayt, yet Nawasib criticize that Imam Ali Ibn al-Husayn never met his grandfather Imam Ali al-Murtadha, they are ignorant that the Maraseel of the Aimmah are accepted but to shut them entirely, let us produce a mutassil Sanad to this narration wherein, Imam Zayn al-Abideen says he heard it from his father Imam al-Husayn which makes it mutassil as mentioned by Allamah Abu al-Qasim al-Sahmi

ﺃﺧﺒﺮﻧﺎﻩ ﺇﺑﺮاﻫﻴﻢ ﺑﻦ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ اﻟﺠﺮﺟﺎﻧﻲ ﺣﺪﺛﻨﺎ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﺇﺑﺮاﻫﻴﻢ اﻟﺮﻓﺎء ﺣﺪﺛﻨﺎ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﺇﺩﺭﻳﺲ اﻟﺮاﺯﻱ ﺣﺪﺛﻨﺎ ﺃﺣﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ اﻟﻮﻟﻴﺪ اﻷﻧﻄﺎﻛﻲ ﺣﺪﺛﻨﺎ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﺟﻌﻔﺮ ﺑﻦ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﻋﻦ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ ﺟﻌﻔﺮ ﺑﻦ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﻋﻦ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﻋﻠﻲ ﻋﻦ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ ﻋﻠﻲ ﺑﻦ اﻟﺤﺴﻴﻦ ﻋﻦ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ اﻟﺤﺴﻴﻦ ﺑﻦ ﻋﻠﻲ ﻋﻦ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ ﻋﻠﻲ ﺑﻦ ﺃﺑﻲ ﻃﺎﻟﺐ ﻗﺎﻝ ﺩﺧﻞ ﻋﻠﻰ ﻋﻠﻲ ﻧﻔﺮ ﻣﻦ ﻗﺮﻳﺶ ﻭﺫﻛﺮ اﻟﺤﺪﻳﺚ

It was reported by Ibrahim Ibn Muhammad al-Jurjani who narrated from Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim al-Rifa who narrated from Muhammad Ibn Idrees al-Raazi who narrated from Ahmad Ibn al-Walid al-Antaky who narrated from Muhammad Ibn Ja’far on the authority of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq from his father Imam Muhammad al-Baqir on the authority of Imam Zayn al-Abideen from Imam Husayn ibn Ali who narrates from his father Imam Ali :

~Taarikh al-Jurjan page 363

.• Same context has been narrated in the Mustadarak of al-Haakim hadith no.4391 from Hadhrat Jaabir Ibn Abd-Allah رضي with Sanad called Sahih by both al-Haakim & adh-Dhahbhi except it has the name ‘al-Khidr’ missing in it.

3) Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Haythami mentioned :

ﺭﻭﻯ ﺑﺈﺳﻨﺎﺩﻩ اﻟﻤﺘﺼﻞ ﺃﺭﺑﻊ ﺭﻭاﻳﺎﺕ ﺗﺪﻝ ﻋﻠﻰ ﺣﻴﺎﺗﻪ ﻣﻨﻬﺎ ﻋﻦ ﻋﻠﻲ ﻛﺮﻡ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻭﺟﻬﻪ ﺃﻧﻪ ﺭﺁﻩ ﻣﺘﻌﻠﻘﺎ ﺑﺄﺳﺘﺎﺭ اﻟﻜﻌﺒﺔ ﻭﻣﻨﻬﺎ ﻋﻦ اﺑﻦ ﻋﺒﺎﺱ ﺭﺿﻲ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻬﻤﺎ ﻗﺎﻝ ﻭﻻ ﺃﻋﻠﻤﻪ ﺇﻻ ﻣﺮﻓﻮﻋﺎ ﻋﻦ اﻟﻨﺒﻲ ﷺ ﻗﺎﻝ ﻳﻠﺘﻘﻲ اﻟﺨﻀﺮ ﻭﺇﻟﻴﺎﺱ ﻓﻲ ﻛﻞ ﻋﺎﻡ

There are four Mutassil (connected) narrations which prove that al-Khidr is alive, in which is the narration of Imam Ali that he saw him making dua’a clinging to the curtains of the Ka’aba,

and in it is a narration from Ibn Abbas who said I don’t know it except from the Prophet ﷺ that He ﷺ said ‘al-Khidr & Ilyas meet every year.’

~al-Fatawa al-Hadithiyyah page 598

4) Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned :

ﻭﻋﻦ ﻣﺤﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﻋﻤﺮاﻥ، ﻋﻦ ﺟﻌﻔﺮ اﻟﺼﺎﺩﻕ ﺃﻧﻪ ﻛﺎﻥ ﻣﻊ ﺃﺑﻴﻪ، ﻓﺠﺎءﻩ ﺭﺟﻞ ﻓﺴﺄﻟﻪ ﻋﻦ ﻣﺴﺎﺋﻞ. ﻗﺎﻝ: ﻓﺄﻣﺮﻧﻲ ﺃﻥ ﺃﺭﺩ اﻟﺮﺟﻞ ﻓﻠﻢ ﺃﺟﺪﻩ، ﻓﻘﺎﻝ: ﺫاﻙ اﻟﺨﻀﺮ

Muhammad Ibn Imran narrated from Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq that he said : “I was with my father (Imam Muhammad al-Baqir) and a man came to him and asked him about some issues, then my father said ‘That was al-Khidr.'”

~al-Isabah fee Tameez al-Sahabah vol 2:278

Part Two : From the companions and the Aslaf

5) Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned :

ﺭﻭاﻩ ﺃﺑﻮ ﻋﻤﺮﻭ ﺑﻦ اﻟﺴﻤﺎﻙ ﻓﻲ ﻓﻮاﺋﺪﻩ، ﻋﻦ ﻳﺤﻴﻰ ﺑﻦ ﺃﺑﻲ ﻃﺎﻟﺐ، ﻋﻦ ﻋﻠﻲ ﺑﻦ ﻋﺎﺻﻢ، ﻋﻦ ﻋﺒﺪ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺑﻦ ﻋﺒﻴﺪ اﻟﻠﻪ، ﻗﺎﻝ: ﻛﺎﻥ اﺑﻦ ﻋﻤﺮ ﻗﺎﻋﺪا ﻭﺭﺟﻞ ﻗﺪ ﺃﻗﺎﻡ ﺳﻠﻌﺘﻪ ﻳﺮﻳﺪ ﺑﻴﻌﻬﺎ، ﻓﺠﻌﻞ ﻳﻜﺮﺭ اﻷﻳﻤﺎﻥ، ﺇﺫ ﻣﺮ ﺑﻪ ﺭﺟﻞ، ﻓﻘﺎﻝ:

It is narrated by Amr Ibn al-Sammak in his Fawa’id from Yahya Ibn Abi Talib on the authority of Ali Ibn Aasim that Abd-Allah Ibn Ubayd-Allah said :

Abd-Allah Ibn Umar was sitting and a man was selling his goods and he kept taking oaths for his products and a man passed by him and said ‘Fear Allah and do not take false oath on Him and speak the truth even if it harms you and avoid lies even if it benefits you and do not misquote others.

Ibn Umar said to a man Follow him ask him to write these words for us but he disappeared so Ibn Umar said : ‘That was al-Khidr.

~al-Isabah fee Tameez al-Sahabah vol 2:270

.• Ibn al-Jawzi said on this Hadith that Ali Ibn Aasim is weak but the compiler of the very book Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani has called Ali Ibn Aasim Sudooq (صدوق) in his book Taqrib al-Tahdheeb page 295.

6) Hafidh al-Qurtubi mentions :

It is reported from Amr ibn Dinar (D.126 H) that he said : “al-Khidr & Ilyas remain alive on this Earth as long as the Qur’an is present upon Earth.”

~Tafsir al-Qurtubi vol 11:43

7) Allamah Jalal ad-Deen al-Suyuti mentioned :

Abu Nu’aym al-Isfahani narrated with a Sahih Chain from Riyah Ibn Ubaydah that : “Umar Ibn Abd al-Aziz left from prayer and an old man was clinging against his hand, I asked myself who could this man be? Then Umar asked me ‘Ya Riyah, do you see him, that was my brother Khidr.'”

~Taarikh al-Khulafa page 376

• Sufyan ath-Thawri said : The Caliph (al-Rashideen) are five: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali and Umar Bin Abd al-Aziz.

~Sunan Abu Dawood 4631

8) Allamah Abu Ja’far at-Tabari mentioned :

ﻋﻦ ﻋﺒﺪ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺑﻦ ﺷﻮﺫﺏ، ﻗﺎﻝ: اﻟﺨﻀﺮ ﻣﻦ ﻭﻟﺪ ﻓﺎﺭﺱ، ﻭﺇﻟﻴﺎﺱ ﻣﻦ ﺑﻨﻲ ﺇﺳﺮاﺋﻴﻞ، ﻳﻠﺘﻘﻴﺎﻥ ﻓﻲ ﻛﻞ ﻋﺎﻡ ﺑﺎﻟﻤﻮﺳﻢ.

Abd-Allah Ibn Shawdhab said : ‘al-Khidr is from the Persians and Ilyas is from the Bani Israel and they meet every year.’

~Taarikh al-Tabari vol 1:365

•Similar has been narrated from Ibn Abi Ruwad

Ibn Asakir mentioned in the biography of Abu Zura’a al-Raazi with a Sahih chain that Abu Zura’a said :

“When I was young, I met a man and his hair were dyed and he advised me ‘Do not visit the courts of the rulers.’ When I grew up, I met him again and he did not change at all and he told me ‘Did I not tell you not to visit the door of the rulers?’ and when I turned around he disappeared as if the Earth opened and he went in it, I assume it was al-Khidr.”

~al-Isabah fee tameez al-Sahabah vol 2:280

12) Hafidh ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned :
