Welcome to our blog! In this article, we will see the narration that Umar whipped the sister of Abu Bakr just because she was crying over her brother’s death, as Allamah Abu Ja’far at-Tabari mentioned :
ﻋﻦ اﺑﻦ ﺷﻬﺎﺏ، ﻗﺎﻝ: ﺣﺪﺛﻨﻲ ﺳﻌﻴﺪ ﺑﻦ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺐ، ﻗﺎﻝ: ﻟﻤﺎ ﺗﻮﻓﻲ ﺃﺑﻮ ﺑﻜﺮ ﺭﺣﻤﻪ اﻟﻠﻪ ﺃﻗﺎﻣﺖ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻋﺎﺋﺸﺔ اﻟﻨﻮﺡ، ﻓﺄﻗﺒﻞ ﻋﻤﺮ ﺑﻦ اﻟﺨﻄﺎﺏ ﺣﺘﻰ ﻗﺎﻡ ﺑﺒﺎﺑﻬﺎ، ﻓﻨﻬﺎﻫﻦ ﻋﻦ اﻟﺒﻜﺎء ﻋﻠﻰ ﺃﺑﻲ ﺑﻜﺮ، ﻓﺄﺑﻴﻦ ﺃﻥ ﻳﻨﺘﻬﻴﻦ، ﻓﻘﺎﻝ ﻋﻤﺮ ﻟﻬﺸﺎﻡ ﺑﻦ اﻟﻮﻟﻴﺪ: اﺩﺧﻞ ﻓﺄﺧﺮﺝ ﺇﻟﻲ اﺑﻦﺓ ﺃﺑﻲ ﻗﺤﺎﻓﺔ، ﺃﺧﺖ ﺃﺑﻲ ﺑﻜﺮ، ﻓﻘﺎﻟﺖ ﻋﺎﺋﺸﺔ ﻟﻬﺸﺎﻡ ﺣﻴﻦ ﺳﻤﻌﺖ ﺫﻟﻚ ﻣﻦ ﻋﻤﺮ: ﺇﻧﻲ ﺃﺣﺮﺝ ﻋﻠﻴﻚ ﺑﻴﺘﻲ ﻓﻘﺎﻝ ﻋﻤﺮ ﻟﻬﺸﺎﻡ: اﺩﺧﻞ ﻓﻘﺪ ﺃﺫﻧﺖ ﻟﻚ، ﻓﺪﺧﻞ ﻫﺸﺎﻡ ﻓﺄﺧﺮﺝ ﺃﻡ ﻓﺮﻭﺓ ﺃﺧﺖ ﺃﺑﻲ ﺑﻜﺮ ﺇﻟﻰ ﻋﻤﺮ، ﻓﻌﻼﻫﺎ ﺑﺎﻟﺪﺭﺓ، ﻓﻀﺮﺑﻬﺎ ﺿﺮﺑﺎﺕ، ﻓﺘﻔﺮﻕ اﻟﻨﻮﺡ ﺣﻴﻦ ﺳﻤﻌﻮا ﺫﻟﻚ
Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib narrated that when Abu Bakr passed away, A’isha mourned over him, then Umar went to her door and asked them to stop crying over Abu Bakr.
Umar asked Hisham Ibn al-Walid to enter the house and bring out the sister of Abu Bakr (who was mourning along), hearing this, A’isha denied them permission to enter the house, On that, Umar said to Hisham ‘Enter the house, I’ve given you permission.’
So Hisham entered the house and dragged Umm Farwah (sister of Abu Bakr) to Umar and Umar beat her until all the mourners ran away.
~Taarikh al-Tabari vol 3:423,

They say it is Mursal from Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib but it is Sahih as Hafidh Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani mentioned this incident and said :
وصله ابن سعد في الطبقات بإسناد صحيح من طريق الزهري، عن سعيد بن المسيب قال: لما توفي أبو بكر أقامت عائشة عليه النوح،
Ibn Sa’ad took this in al-Taqbat with a Sahih Sanad from al-Zuhri to Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib that when Abu Bakr passed away, A’isha mourned over him… (and the rest of the narration)
~Fath al-Baari vol 6:225

Anyways, The Mursal of Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib is considered Sahih as al-Khatib al-Baghdadi mentioned :
اﻟﻤﺰﻧﻲ ﻗﺎﻝ: ﻗﺎﻝ اﻟﺸﺎﻓﻌﻲ: «ﻭﺇﺭﺳﺎﻝ اﺑﻦ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺐ ﻋﻨﺪﻧﺎ ﺣﺴﻦ»
Imam ash-Shafi’i said ‘The Irsal of Ibn al-Musayyib are Hasan to us.’
ﺛﻨﺎ ﻳﻌﻘﻮﺏ ﺑﻦ ﺳﻔﻴﺎﻥ، ﺣﺪﺛﻨﻲ اﻟﻔﻀﻞ ﺑﻦ ﺯﻳﺎﺩ , ﻗﺎﻝ: ﺳﻤﻌﺖ ﺃﺑﺎ ﻋﺒﺪ اﻟﻠﻪ ﻳﻌﻨﻲ ﺃﺣﻤﺪ ﺑﻦ ﺣﻨﺒﻞ , ﻳﻘﻮﻝ: «ﻣﺮﺳﻼﺕ ﺳﻌﻴﺪ ﺑﻦ اﻟﻤﺴﻴﺐ ﺃﺻﺢ اﻟﻤﺮﺳﻼﺕ
Ahmad Ibn Hanbal said : ‘The Mursalat of Sa’eed Ibn al-Musayyib are the most authentic Mursalat.’

Thanks! Reading this, one thing is clear: Umar wouldn’t think twice before invading anybody’s house and beating their women, and that too the house of Abu Bakr, who is considered the most superior after the Prophets in the Omari religion. So why does it fascinate them that Umar also attacked the house of Sayyida al-Zahra as we proved in this article :
