Welcome to our Blog! In this short article written on the 21st Night of the month of Ramadan, we shall read from the Sunni sources the Khutbah delivered by Imam al-Hasan al-Mujtaba after the martyrdom of his father, Imam Ali.
1) Allamah Nur ad-Deen al-Haythami mentioned :
When Imam Ali was killed, Imam al-Hasan delivered a Khutbah and he said : By Allah, you have killed a man tonight, on the very night the Qur’an was revealed, on this night Jesus the son of Mary was raised up and Yusha’ Ibn Nun was killed.
~Kashf al-Astar aan Zawa’id al-Bazaar vol 3:205

• al-Bazaar said : The Sanad is Good.
• This also proves that the Ahl al-Bayt considered the night of the 21st as Laylat al-Qadr, as Imam Hasan said it was the very night the Qur’an was revealed.
2) al-Nisai’i narrated :
Imam al-Hasan Ibn Ali came to us wearing a black turban and said : Until yesterday, there was a man among you whom neither the previous people nor the people to come could supersede.
Rasul-Allah ﷺ said the banner is for the man who loves Allah & His Messenger and whom Allah & His Messenger love.
Jibrael & Mikael would fight along with him on his right and left. The banner was not returned until Allah granted him victory.
He left behind nothing except 700 dirhams from his stipend, and he intended to get a helper for his family from it.
~Khasais Ali page 46

• This proves that the Sibt of Rasul-Allah ﷺ, Imam al-Hasan Ibn Ali, would consider Imam Ali the most superior.
