1) Ibn al-Manzur al-Ifriki mentioned :
al-Awzai’i narrated that Bilal went to Umar Ibn al-Khattab, and Umar said, ‘We know the time of prayer better than you.’ Bilal replied, ‘I know the time better than you, and you are more misguided than the donkey of your family.’
~Mukhtasar Taarikh Damishq li-Ibn Asakir vol 5:266-267

• This is Mursal from al-Awzai’i, but it is accepted.
Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned :
al-Awzai’i narrated from the Prophet ﷺ (then the Hadith was mentioned), and the Mursal, when corroborated, is accepted by the consensus of the Fuqaha.

2) Nur ad-Deen al-Haythami mentioned :
Abd-Allah Ibn Aamir Ibn Rabiyyah narrated from his mother, who said : Umar Ibn al-Khattab was the harshest person to Muslims. Then we were preparing to go to Abyssinia.
Umar came to me and asked, ‘Where are you going, O mother of Abd-Allah?’ I replied, ‘You have harmed us, so we will go to Allah’s land where we will not be harmed.’ Umar said, ‘May Allah be with you.’ Then he left.
Aamir Ibn Rabiyyah, my husband, came, and I told him about Umar’s tenderness, and he asked me, ‘Do you think he will become a Muslim?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He replied, ‘I swear by Allah, the donkey of al-Khattab will become a Muslim but not him.’
~Majmaa’ al-Zawa’id vol 6:23-24

• Nur ad-Deen al-Haythami commented :
It was narrated by at-Tabarani with the Sama’ of Ibn Ishaq, and it is Sahih.
3) al-Khateeb al-Baghdadi mentioned :
Ismail Ibn Hammad Ibn Abi Hanifa said : We had a neighbour who was a Rafidhi; he had two donkeys (mules), and he named one Abu Bakr and the other Umar. One night, one of them kicked him, and he died.
Abu Hanifa was informed about it, and he said, ‘Find out the mule that kicked him; it must be the one named Umar.’ They checked, and it was as he said.
